OceaniaAustralian teams are taking the lead in an exciting project assisting the Department of Distance Education of an Indian Medical College with their Post-Graduate Diploma in Family Medicine. The programme started in January 2010 and was funded by the Indian government National Rural Health Mission to train government doctors in eight of the poorer states.
To support this project they require GP or Family Doctors, ideally with work and teaching experience in developing countries, to act as external co-ordinators of the three blocks each year when the trainees go to regional centres for the two-week contact phases.
Other PRIME Australia projects are operating in Nepal, China and Tanzania.
Australian PRIME tutors have participated in programmes arranged at the UK end. Similarly, we have British tutors among our teams for India. These people movements illustrate how PRIME is becoming an international movement.

Papua New Guinea: A team of four PRIME Australia tutors were the guest speakers in a three-day conference held in Port Moresby. A second team will be returning to Papua New Guinea in 2012 and looking to develop a strategy for ongoing input in this country.
